Out of a 5 day work week, working 52 weeks a year (assuming they did this, which most do NOT!).. that would equate to 260 working days. Divide that number by 1 MILLION DOLLARS, and you get $3846.15 daily. That means, to generate 1 MIL annually, working every week day, you would need to hit $3850 a day. So, figure that is the difference between Joe Average and Joe PDR millionaire. Ok-we havent really learned anything new yet, right? Right. The average repair for the cars is $1500.00 That measures out to:1.2 MILLION DOLLARS. Nice, huh? And chances are, unless the dealer is self insured, the insurance company is footing the bill, not the dealer. All the better.. So, does the one tech who sold the job get all the dough? No, probably not, unless he's a madman and can mash cars like no other and do em all in 30 days or less (unlikely). More likely, he sold the job and is getting 40-50% of the gig, plus any work he pushes out himself. So he might net 600k, but that is likely the high end of the scale. He may have some other costs (kickbacks to the dealer, lodging, etc) but he will probably net out at least 400k. My buddys who do this seem to get it done in 6-8 months, not 12. They even get BORED after their year is up-too much time at home with the wives... Oh yeah..lets say you dont have the chutspah to go out and close a dealer deal for 1M+..what then>? You get on the other side of the equation (the 50-60% side)_ and push metal. PDR Hail techs average 50-70% of the bill, and usually get over $1000.00 daily. That, times 260 days (if you worked year round) is $260,000.00 also!!
