Turnaround plan cuts GM loss to $115 million Excluding special charges, it earned $529 million General Motors Corp. beat analyst expectations for third-quarter earnings, saying its turnaround efforts are taking hold. GM reported Wednesday morning a net loss of $115 million, or a loss of 20 cents per share, in the third quarter, but excluding special onetime items, it made $529 million, or 93 cents per share. Excluding these items, GM was expected to make $277 million, or 49 cents a share, according to a consensus of analyst estimates by Thomson Financial. Analysts focus on an adjusted net income that sets aside these one-time items as a way to assess a company's business on an on-going basis. The special items amounted to $644 million in charges, including a write-down at GMAC in the commercial finance business and an increase to the charge associated with Delphi Corp.'s reorganization. In a press statement, GM CEO and Chairman Rick Wagoner was upbeat about the results. GM had a net loss of $1.6 billion in the third quarter of last year — a $1.1 billion loss taking out special onetime items. “Our third quarter results again reflect significant progress in our fast-paced initiatives to turn around our business and create a company that is leaner, faster and positioned for long-term sustainable growth,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagoner. GM continued to lose money in its North American automotive business, a major drag on profits. The Detroit automaker lost $374 million in its North American automotive operations in the third quarter, but that was more than a $1-billion improvement from the third quarter last year. GM has taken key steps in cutting costs in North America, including getting a deal with the UAW to reduce health care costs and having more than 30,000 hourly workers sign up for early retirement or buyout deals. GM's press statement Wednesday morning also said it saw progress in the negotiations with the bankruptcy proceedings at Delphi, a former GM division and its largest supplier. GM narrowed the range for the cost that could result from benefit guarantees it made to Delphi to between $6 billion and $7.5 billion pretax, compared to the $5.5 billion to $12 billion previously estimated. GM said it believes the amount of the liability is likely at the lower end of the new range. To handle this potential liability, GM increased a reserve by $500 million in the third quarter, bringing total charges taken so far for this Delphi contingency to $6 billion. GM also disclosed that the final agreement with Delphi may require GM to reimburse Delphi for some labor expenses. The initial payment in 2007 is not expected to exceed $400 million, GM said. An ongoing expense would be for a limited time and is estimated to average less than $100 million annually. GM said it expects these payments to be exceeded by reductions in Delphi material cost premiums. The third-quarter report comes just weeks after GM called off alliance talks with Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co. Shortly after the talks ended, GM board member Jerry York, an adviser to shareholder Kirk Kerkorian, resigned, prompting some experts to predict a battle for control at GM. Strong third-quarter results would strengthen Wagoner's position, many analysts predicted at the time. Automakers and Bush finally set date to meet President George W. Bush The White House has set a date for President George W. Bush to meet with the heads of Detroit's automakers, senior adviser Karl Rove said. "I'm not going to tell you what the date is, but there is a date," Rove said on WJR-AM radio (760) Tuesday, adding that the administration talks to "the auto boys all the time." The meeting is expected in mid-November. White House officials said they were aiming to hold the meeting then, but did not want to provide a firm date on the chance that it could be postponed again. Bush pledged in September to meet with the heads of General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and the Chrysler Group after Gov. Jennifer Granholm and Democrats said the White House had ignored the problems facing Detroit's automakers. The get-together had been conceived as a chance for the executives to talk about energy, currency and health care issues. But, if midterm elections swing one or both houses of Congress to Democrats, the meeting's tone could change. Rove said health care, foreign trade and tort reform will be discussed. "We need to expand markets; we need to have a level playing field so they can sell their products abroad," Rove said. "We need to have tax policies and litigation policies so they can get their job done without a bunch of junk and frivolous lawsuits." Chrysler Group posts $1.48-billion operating loss German automaker DaimlerChrysler AG saw profits drop 37% in the three months ended Sept. 30 primarily due to a quarterly operating loss of $1.5 billion at the Chrysler Group. During a Wednesday morning third-quarter conference call, DaimlerChrysler reported an operating profit of $1.13 billion for the quarter thanks to better than expected results from its Mercedes and truck divisions. Mercedes' operating profit more than doubled from a year earlier. DaimlerChrysler blamed the losses at its Chrysler division on falling demand for vehicles from dealers, negative net pricing and a shift in consumer tastes from large pickups and SUVs to smaller, more fuel-efficient – and less profitable – vehicles. Chrysler's sales fell 26% to $12.1 billion from $16.4 billion. In response to the decline in demand, Chrysler reports that it reduced third-quarter vehicle shipments, which are closely tied to production, to 504,426, down 158,937 from the third-quarter 2005. “We are in no way satisfied with our third-quarter results” Chrysler Group President Tom LaSorda said in a statement. “We have taken dramatic steps to reduce production and shipments to address the inventory situation in the U.S. and we continue to work to find new ways to eliminate waste, lower our costs and improve quality.” Chrysler is in the midst of evaluating its operations through a program called Project Refocus to determine where it can cut up to $1,000 from the cost of every vehicle it makes. LaSorda and DaimlerChrysler executives said nothing has been ruled out, including layoffs and idling plants. Bodo Uebber, a member of the DaimlerChrysler board of management responsible for finance would not speculate during the Wednesday morning conference call on whether the options included selling Chrysler. “We don't exclude anything here," Uebber said. “We will do our analysis. Second, we will talk about measures. And third, we will draw our conclusions.” Toyota recalling 30,000 Scions over air bags Concerns they could deploy if doors slammed hard WASHINGTON - Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it was recalling about 30,000 Scion TC sports coupes over concerns that the side air bags could inadvertently deploy if the door is slammed forcefully. The recall affects about 20 percent of the tCs produced during the 2005 and 2006 model years, Toyota said. The vehicle is only sold in the United States. The automaker said seat-mounted side air bags and side curtain air bags could deploy if the door on that side of the vehicle is closed forcefully while the ignition is on or within 90 seconds of when the ignition is turned off. Toyota said it has received reports of 17 incidents in which the air bag deployed. No accidents, deaths or injuries have been reported. Scion, Toyota's youth-oriented brand, will send recall notices to owners next month. Dealers will replace the side air bag sensors at no charge. Consumers can call the automaker at (866) 707-2466.

Auto Loan

Car loans keep getting longer Think that car payment would be a little more affordable if you could just spread those payments over another year or two? If you do, you're not alone. Eighty-nine percent of new car buyers are financing their vehicles for more than four years, and 55 percent select loans that extend more than five years, according to a 2006 study commissioned by the Consumer Bankers Association and conducted by BenchMark Consulting International. "Cars are made better, they are more expensive and people are keeping them longer," says Carter Myers, president of Carter Myers Automotive, a group of Virginia-based dealerships, past chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association and chairman of Automotive Retailing Today, an industry association of manufacturers and dealers. Given those circumstances, "it's natural" that the loan cycle would lengthen, he says. With used cars, 82 percent of buyers finance for more than four years, and 40 percent opt for payments to run more than five years, according to the study. A good idea? So are longer loans good for the consumer? "It has allowed consumers to buy more car than they had in the past," says Marguerite Watanabe, auto finance practice manager for BenchMark, a management consulting firm. Twenty years ago, when consumers shopped for a car, they focused on the cost of the car, she says. Today, they shop payments. "The monthly payment is now what's driving the purchase." Whether it's a good move for an individual consumer may depend on how he or she handles the loan, says Philip Reed, consumer service advice editor for Edmunds.com. Longer payoffs don't offer the buyer a lot of positives, Reed says. Virtually the only upside is that "you can afford a car you couldn't otherwise afford," he says. A long-term loan delays ownership, even as the car is decreasing in value, Reed says. Typically, cars drop in value about 20 percent when the first owner drives them off the lot. Between years two and five, they plateau, losing value gradually. After year five, value "begins dropping off more steeply" for most cars, he says. There are ways for consumers to benefit from longer-loan terms, Reed says. He recently took out a five-year loan on a new car with the goal of paying extra every month and getting the note paid in three years. The longer term gives him the flexibility of a lower minimum payment and he gets to decide just how much more money he puts toward the payment every month. "If you're fairly disciplined, you can make larger payments and pay it off early," Reed says. To calculate whether a longer term loan is the right move for you (and your car), you want to look at how you use a car, how often you trade, plus the resale record of the specific make and model. In addition, just how much money do you realistically plan to put toward a car payment every month? The typical long-term loan buyer is "more likely someone who expects to drive the car for a long time," says Paul Taylor, chief economist for the National Association of Automobile Dealers. It's also more typical for select or "cult" cars that either appreciate or don't lose value in the usual manner. For the regular buyer and the regular car, a long-term loan is "out of sync with the typical ownership cycle," Taylor says. People tend to keep a vehicle about 4.8 to 5.5 years, he says. Typically, they sell it about three months before the loan is paid, he says. Some consumers may also be using longer loan terms to get into cars they might not be able to otherwise afford. If you've got your heart set on a luxury sedan and, after the down payment, need to finance $30,000, a three-year loan at 3 percent will cost you $872 per month. If you could pay it over seven years at 6 percent, the payment drops to $497. But don't forget, it also adds $4,340 (in interest) to the cost of the car. Always think long term. If a longer finance cycle means that you'll also be keeping the car during the period when you can also expect more expensive repairs or service visits, or past the point when it would have substantial trade-in value, then that lower monthly payment may end up costing more than you bargained. Real-life math Being able to drive that dream car involves more than just making the monthly payment. You want to make a smart decision on both the car and the financing. First, look at the basic costs. Just how much would the monthly payment differ if you financed your car over five or six years instead of two, three or four? Dealers can typically offer from zero percent to 6 percent, depending on your credit and the length of the loan, says Taylor. Typically, the longer the loan, the higher the rate. "Obviously, if you're going to pay it off over a longer period of time, it will cost you more," says Deanna Sclar, author of "Buying a Car for Dummies." So look at what those dollars could have earned you elsewhere. If you hadn't put the money into the car, and instead parked it in your investment or savings account, what would that have earned? "You have to look at what your money can buy you," Sclar says. The smart rule of thumb? Spend no more than 20 percent of household income on auto payments, says Reed. By that measure, most people really can't afford the cars they're driving, he says. Next, look at how you want to use the car and for how long. Many experts recommend setting the loan term to coincide with when you probably want to trade the vehicle (and even giving yourself a few payment-free months to assemble a down payment.) If you typically like to trade a car every three or four years, how would a five- or six-year loan change your plans? "Certainly a longer loan does make it more difficult to trade early," says Myers. How will having an older car impact your next trade-in deal? Typically, a well-maintained six-year-old model will fetch considerably less than a three-year-old version of the same vehicle. Another point to keep in mind: Sometimes predicting the future worth of an auto can be a gamble. Future value is based on predicted demand, and what is in demand can change very quickly. "You can't always figure that out," says Reed. Case in point: sport utility vehicles. While they may seem to make up every other vehicle on the road, demand for SUVs has dropped since the price of gas started creeping toward and past $3 a gallon, says Reed. As a result, the trade-in and resale value once predicted for many models several years ago has changed, he says. What will it cost you? You also want to look at the repair costs that you'll rack up during those extra years. Based on what you know about the make and model, what kind of repair bills should you expect during the additional years you'll have the car? Can you afford those bills in addition to the monthly payments? One good thing: Warranties on cars have gotten longer, too, says Myers. Check out any service contract or extended warranty the seller might offer to see if it would cover or offset any of the garage bills you could expect during those extra few years of ownership. Then just do the math. When you figure out how much extra you stand to pay in interest, try to also tally up if or how the value of the car would change if you keep it a few more years. If you plan on using the car as a trade-in, what will those extra few years in age cost you when you go to buy your next car? And what, if anything, would you be earning with any of that extra money you might be paying? From a more practical standpoint, what choices do you have if your life changes (moves, marriage, career change, baby, new commute, etc.), and the old car is no longer the right car? Try to keep your options open. If you put at least 20 percent down, you've covered that first year of steep depreciation and should never be upside down in your loan and owe more than the car is actually worth, says Reed (which can make it difficult to sell or trade the vehicle). In some situations, you may even want to consider refinancing, he says. Don't forget to add in the boredom factor. Sure, you love the car now, but how will you feel about it when it's three years old and you're only halfway through the payment book? Most of all, realize that this vehicle is one of many that you will own, and it's something that will affect your finances for the period of time you own it, so plan accordingly. Says Reed, "It's a good idea for people to look at auto expenses as a cycle and not a one-time shot."

There's just so much to check, from interior wear and tear to maintenance history. Why does the interior on the '96 Lexus look like it belongs on a '92 Chevy? Why does the car with more than 100,000 miles look and drive better than the car with only 30,000 miles on the speedo? Rest assured, there's a reason for everything--and putting it all together doesn't have to be a hard as a New York Times crossword puzzle. Just keep these ten tips in mind and chances are you'll be on your way to a dependable pre-owned car. 1. Go with low mileage: Given the choice between two virtually identical cars with dissimilar mileage, (even if there's no mechanical or cosmetic difference), pick the lower mileage car. Lower miles are a benefit if you resell, and provide more extended warranty eligibility at a better price. 2. Options increase selling prospects: With new cars, the difference between modestly- equipped and loaded can mean several thousand dollars. As vehicles age, this price gap narrows. Loaded used cars cost more, but deliver desirable options for much less than original cost. Well- optioned, deluxe models are easier to resell than base models of the same vehicle. 3. Hang out with the popular crowd: If you plan to resell, consider popularity factors. Well- equipped, high-demand cars in popular colors are always the easiest to resell. 4. Learn about the previous owner: Find out the number of previous owners. Ideally, a 2 year-old-car should have one owner, and a five-year-old car shouldn't have more than two owners. More owners may be a warning sign. Beware of missing or inconsistent service records. Get the real history of any used car, Check it through CARFAX before you buy. 5. Know the difference between age and depreciation: With late-model used vehicles, the previous owner has absorbed a big chunk of the vehicle's total depreciation. Try to buy before the depreciation curve levels off and while the car is as new as possible. This generally falls in the two-to-four year old range, although it varies by make and model. Study prices versus vehicle age to determine that ideal window. 6. Investigate the lease and rental market: There are many excellent lease return cars on the market, especially cars driven by an individual for personal use, or in a company. Motor pool cars (e.g. utility company vehicles), less so. Maintenance schedules are excellent on rental cars, but drivers do abuse them. 7. Protect your investment: The remainder of the original manufacturer's warranty can usually be transferred. Autobytel.com offers an extended warranty (3 months,/3,000 miles) free, and low-cost protection beyond that . When shopping any warranty, check the fine print, watching for excessive deductibles. 8. Get everything in writing: Especially price, terms, repairs, and/or trade-ins. This should be clearly written into the sales agreement. 9. Know what you're buying: In general, you should stay away from cars with a negative history. Examples include: Cars from natural disaster locales, repaired insurance "totals" (most titles identify salvaged wrecks), excessive mileage cars (more than 15 thousand miles per year), cars whose manufacturer has retreated from the US. Market, dramatically modified cars and vehicles from bankruptcy or law enforcement seizures. 10. Do your homework: Research everything about the vehicles you have in mind. Read up on current trade-in and market value, safety ratings, consumer and professional reviews, and the options, mileage adjustment and condition of the car. How to Find Rebates and Incentives on New Cars Save yourself some serious money on that new car by learning about rebates and incentives and then use them when you negotiate. Instructions * STEP 1: Watch the newspaper for ads featuring rebates on certain models. * STEP 2: Search the Internet regularly to keep up on current rebates and incentives. * STEP 3: Ask the salesman at the dealership if there are any. * STEP 4: Make sure you get a written guarantee that the rebate or incentive will still be good when your vehicle arrives if you're ordering from the manufacturer. Rebates and incentives do have expiration dates. * STEP 5: Ask the sales manager if the sales representatives says there isn't an incentive on your particular car. Sometimes sales representatives aren't told about them. * STEP 6: Be aware that incentives and rebates aren't always available nationwide. Sometimes certain geographical regions are excluded if a car is already selling well there. * STEP 7: Wait a week or so if the manufacturer isn't offering a rebate on your car. Rebates are always going on and chances are pretty good that you'll be able to take advantage of one if you're patient. Tips & Warnings * Remember that everything is negotiable. If you aren't satisfied, you don't have to buy from a particular dealer. The sales representative knows this; he wants you to forget it. How to Find a Classic or Vintage Car That's Right For You Take the Easy Road to Collector Cars and Prices You love those classic and vintage cars and you've got a hankering to own one. After convincing the wife and winning over the bank's loan manager, you're on the hunt for a perfect vehicle. But where to start? Researching the vintage car market isn't like hanging out at a used car lot. First, decide what type of car is best for you. That probably eliminates those exotic beauties that appear in major auto shows and international concours. Face it, unless you're wealthy, you can't afford one. Most likely what you want can simply be described as a "collector car." The next perilous decision has to do with ability, as well as financial resources. Collector cars can be (a) superbly restored (b) dependable runners that require work (c) basket cases needing to be rebuilt from the ground up. Most experts suggest staying away from the latter unless you're a skilled mechanic and/or body repair man. Some cars, once restored, are valued at less than what it costs to do the restoration. Which takes us to another point. Why are you buying a vintage car? The trading of collector cars is such that many are now regarded as investments: Safe havens for money, potential profit makers. If your car is to be an investment, better be careful regarding choice of vehicle and how much will be spent to put it in saleable condition. My advice to first-time buyers? Forget investment potential until you've had prior experience in the old car market. Or be prepared to spend some entertaining hours at the auctions. Classic and vintage car auctions provide an opportunity to view large numbers of collector cars all in one place. Which means more choice plus the possibility of obtaining a bargain. There are dozens of auctions held around the country, some of international stature, others strictly local. If you can afford the cost of travel, the big auctions are worth the trouble but you may find some gems at the smaller gatherings. Just be sure you're properly informed about values before making a bid. So... having dealt with several difficult but important considerations, let's go shopping.

Auto Insurance Quote

Car Insurance Coverage What Kinds are There There are five basic types of auto insurance coverage: bodily injury liability, property damage liability, medical payments, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, and comprehensive and collision insurance, a two-part coverage which covers physical damages to a vehicle. Although they have big names, most car insurance coverage is self-explanatory and can be figured out in the name of the coverage. Bodily injury liability will pay for any claims made involving bodily injuries caused in an accident, while property damage liability will pay for damages caused to another person's vehicle – or property - in the case of an accident. Medical payments will cover the medical bills of anyone in the policyholder's car or any passengers in that car so the costs don't come out of pocket. Underinsured and uninsured motorists, will save a lot of worry and hassle if involved in an collision where the person who hit you does not have any or has insufficient insurance coverage. This type of insurance coverage, which in most states only covers bodily injury losses - protects a driver from other drivers who might be negligent. The final portions of insurance coverage, collision and comprehensive, will help pay for physical damages to your vehicle. Collision means when or if you are involved in a car wreck, any damages caused to your vehicle, like broken headlights or a dented side panel, will be replaced by the insurance company and not from your pocket. Comprehensive covers things like a broken or cracked windshield or natural disasters, such as storms, earthquakes, fires, and other non-collision oriented accidents. Which state you live in will determine the types of car insurance coverage that you will have to have on your policy. Most states require at least liability insurance at a minimum, and many make sure auto owners have insurance before drivers can even register their car with the state. Still other states use a type of system which doesn't inquire about insurance until drivers have gotten a speeding citation or has been involved in an accident. Determining which kind of car insurance is right for you depends on the situation. If your car is worth a lot of money, you will most likely need a higher amount of insurance coverage. The premium will also be higher if the insurance company is expected to pay a lot. The second part of insurance that you'll have to decide on is a deductible. Generally ranging from $50,000 to $250,000, insurance plans have deductibles that are on average about $500; this will limit how much you pay out of pocket before the insurance coverage will take over. You can set your deductible as high as $1,000 to keep your payments down or set it as low as $200 to keep out of pocket expenses down, depending on your insurance company's regulations. The most important types of insurance coverage are collision and comprehensive so there is some protection in case involved in an accident where your vehicle is damaged or completely totaled. That way no matter what happens, you will most likely always have some sort of protection. How Much Car Insurance Should You Buy? Car insurance isn't very exciting. Depending on which state you live in, it could be a smaller or larger piece of your budget than your neighbors across state lines. How much insurance should you buy? Any insurance agent worthy of their salt will tell you that you should buy as much as you can afford. While this is a good rule of thumb, it's about as useful as a stock broker's tip to buy low and sell high. It might be sound logic but it doesn't get you any closer to an educated decision. There are a few filters that need consideration in order to make that educated decision. First, what is the state required minimum coverage where you live? Second, what does the minimum cover? For example, 20/40/10 means coverage up to$20,000 for each person injured in an accident, up to a maximum of $40,000 forth entire accident, and $10,000 worth of coverage for property damage. These state minimums are based on the most current information available. In addition, some states are "no-fault" states which additionally require Personal Injury Protection, a.k.a. PIP. You should check your specific state's requirements to verify these figures. What do the minimums cover? Now that you know what your state requires, what are you actually covered for once you purchase the minimum? Using the coverage definitions that follow, find the types of coverage required and see what your state says is the accepted minimum. Coverage Definitions Bodily Injury Liability covers other people's bodily injuries or death for which you are responsible. It also provides for a legal defense if another party in the accident files a lawsuit against you. Claims for bodily injury may be for such things as medical bills, loss of income or pain and suffering. In the event of a serious accident, you want enough insurance to cover a judgment against you in a lawsuit, without jeopardizing your personal assets. Bodily injury liability covers injury to people, not your vehicle. Therefore, it's good idea to have the same level of coverage for all of your cars. Bodily Injury Liability does NOT cover you or other people on your policy. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy. Comprehensive Physical Damage Coverage Covers your vehicle, and sometimes other vehicles you maybe driving for losses resulting from incidents other than collision. For example, comprehensive insurance covers damage to your car if it is stolen; or damaged by flood, fire, or animals. Pays to fix your vehicle less the deductible you choose. To keep your premiums low, select as high a deductible as you feel comfortable paying out of pocket. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy. Collision Coverage covers damage to your car when your car hits, or is hit by, another vehicle, or other object. Pays to fix your vehicle less the deductible you choose. To keep your premiums low, select as large a deductible as you feel comfortable paying out of pocket. For older cars, consider dropping this coverage, since coverage is normally limited to the cash value of your car. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy. Medical Payments covers medical expenses to you and your passengers injured in an accident. There may also be coverage if as a pedestrian a vehicle injures you. Does NOT matter who is at fault. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy. Uninsured Motorist Coverage covers bodily injuries to you and your passengers when the other person has no insurance or not enough insurance in a crash that is not your fault. In some states, there is also uninsured motorist coverage for damage to your vehicle. Given the large number of uninsured motorists, this is very important coverage to have, even in states with no-fault insurance. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy Personal Injury Protection Coverage covers within the specified limits, the medical, hospital and funeral expenses of the insured, others in his vehicles and pedestrians struck by him. The basic coverage for the insured's own injuries on first-party basis, without regard to fault. It is only available in certain states. Property Damage Liability covers you if your car damages someone else's property. Usually it is their car, but it could be a fence, a house or any other property damaged in an accident. It also provides you with legal defense if another party files a lawsuit against you. It is a good idea to purchase enough of this insurance to cover the amount of damage your car might do to another vehicle or object. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy. Rental Car Reimbursement covers renting a car if your car isn't drivable or while your car is being repaired because of a covered accident. What else is available and can you afford it? Did you come across a coverage and think, "I need that but it isn't required by state law" when you were reviewing the coverage definitions? Chances are you did. Can your budget afford the additional expense of these protections? Or maybe more to the point; can you afford NOT to have these additional protections? At CarInsurance.com it's easy to get multiple quotes all with a click of your mouse. And during the quoting process, it's simple to add or remove coverage to see how additional coverage will affect your budget. You can learn more about Insurance Coverages by following this link. What are you protecting? What assets need to be protected from being plucked away if you cause injury or damage? A) Your car itself. If this is a significant asset, or at least the bank you owe money to thinks so, then you will need comprehensive and collision. B) Your net worth. Do you have an enormous net worth to protect. If so, either get it out of your name and into a trust or buy all the insurance you can. If you have little or nothing to protect, then you can get by with less and still be financially responsible. However, after you determine how much protection to get, always ask how much more it is for the next level higher. Very often, you can get significantly more coverage for very little cost. Car insurance isn't flashy. There is no "wow" factor and the opposite gender isn't going to be impressed by the size of your policy. But not having enough can be the difference between financial stability and financial ruin. For what its worth, CarInsurance.com finds financial stability incredibly appealing. Auto Insurance Quote

Cheap Auto Insurance Most people complain about the cost of their auto insurance --hardly surprising, given that a typical policy costs at least several hundred dollars a year. Depending on your age, driving record, and other factors, your annual premium can be significantly more than that. So how can you lower your premium and save yourself money? If you own a car and drive it, going without insurance is generally not an option. In most states, you are required by law to purchase a minimum amount of liability coverage. And you should probably have more than just the bare minimum if you want to provide yourself with adequate protection. There are steps you can take, however, to reduce your auto insurance costs without having to cancel your policy. Some or all of these steps may be appropriate for you, depending on your circumstances. Specific ways to save money on auto insurance: 1. Shop around. One of your first steps should be to shop around. A particularly good time to investigate your alternatives is when your current policy is about to be up for renewal, especially if you find that your premium has gone up. You may be surprised to learn that auto insurance premiums for the exact same coverage on the same car can vary widely (by hundreds of dollars) between different insurers, even in states that regulate auto insurance rates. 2. Increase your deductible. For many people, raising the deductible on their auto insurance is a good way to cut the cost of the policy. Sometimes you can reduce your annual premium by 10 percent or more if you increase your deductible from, say, $250 to $500. If you do this, however, make sure you have the financial resources to handle the larger deductible when the time comes. 3. Keep an eye on your credit report. Your credit history is an important factor for most auto insurance companies. Many studies have shown a correlation between your credit history and the risk to an insurance company. Paying your bills on time and maintaining a good credit history will allow you to enjoy lower auto insurance rates. 4. Drive less. If you drive less than a certain number of miles in a year (e.g., 7,500), you may qualify for a low-mileage discount. If your insurer offers this discount, try to limit your driving as much as possible. If you commute to work, use public transportation instead of driving. When you go away on vacation, fly or take the train. 5. Don't use your car for business purposes. Since work-related driving generally subjects you to higher premiums than pleasure driving, it may be in your best interest to stop using your car for business purposes. 6. Drive more safely. You may be eligible for a price break on your policy if you maintain a clean driving record for a specified period (usually three years). A clean driving record generally means no accidents, moving violations, drunk driving convictions, etc., during that period. The best way to qualify for the applicable discount is to drive carefully and defensively at all times. 7. Buy a low-profile car. Cars are rated on a risk scale for auto insurance purposes. In general, sports cars and other high-performance, flashy vehicles are classified as higher risks because they are common targets for thieves and vandals, and because statistically, the people who own them tend to drive more recklessly. If you own such a vehicle, you will likely pay a higher premium than if you owned a station wagon, sedan, or other low-risk vehicle. 8. Move. If you live in a rural community with little crime and traffic congestion, your premium will generally be lower than if you live in an urban area where your car is more likely to be stolen, vandalized, or involved in an accident. Granted, you shouldn't move just to cut your auto insurance costs. However, this may be one of many factors in your decision if you're thinking about relocating from the country to the city. 9. Keep your car in a garage. Cars parked in garages are less likely to be stolen, vandalized, or struck by other vehicles. Using a garage to store your car may entitle you to a slight premium reduction. 10. Have safety/anti-theft devices installed. You may receive discounts on your insurance if your car is equipped with one or more of the following options: anti-lock brakes, automatic seat belts, and airbags. Similarly, anti-theft devices such as car alarms and tracking systems (e.g., Lojack) may also get you a discount because they reduce the chances of your car being stolen or vandalized. 11. Inquire about multifamily/multipolicy discounts. You may receive a discount from your insurance company if you buy more than one type of insurance through that same company (e.g., auto and homeowner's). A discount may also apply to your auto insurance if you insure multiple cars under the same policy or with the same company. 12. Other discounts Other discounts may be available if you meet certain criteria. Examples may include discounts for taking a defensive driving course, being a AAA member or staying with the same auto insurance company for a number of years. These discounts vary by company.

Want Paintless Dent Removal Training for under $5k? Paintless Dent Repair Training Schools

So your a tech, or wannabe, or you just bought some tools off us (Thanks) and you heard from another tech that you can break glass (side door glass) if you are not careful. Yes its true. The average DW (Dent Wizard tech) Im told breaks 2-3 side glass pieces per year, and after that DW makes the tech pay for it out of his/her pocket. So, how to avoid it? 1) NEVER push on dual paned glass for one. Mercedes S class, Lexus LS and others now coming to market. Be careful-look at the top of the glass partially rolled down, and if it has two panes, avoid it. 2) Always use your glass protector! 3) Never insert a window wedge without the glass protector in FIRST! Thats it! Happy pushing!

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL | NEWS and tips

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL | NEWS, tips and secrets Ok- many techs both old and new ask me what is the best tap down for Paintless Dent Removal

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Training Schools

Here are the choices, and some are more recent than others: 1) Plastic 2) Wood 3) Metal 4) Leather 5) Rubber Now I havent used all the above, but I will comment on those I have put my hands on and info from other techs who have tried the others- 1) Plastic By FAR the most popular Paintless Dent Removal tap down of choice. Usually doesnt scuff the paint, can be used raw and is good for general tap down duties. 2) Wood Old school, works and usually will not scuff, but may scuff repainted cars, and tends to mash down after a few uses and requires replacement or sharpening. 3) Metal IN 1991 when I first started, we used nail sets with electrical tape for our tap downs. They worked great for sharp highs, but if you lost the tape you were chipping the paint quickly. And re-taping the tap down constantly is tedious. 4) Leather This works, but is best for soft highs or ridge high spots. Will not work on sharp highs 5) Rubber Never used it, heard it bounces and doesnt transfer much energy to tapping down, but rather recoils and wastes time. So there you have it! I recommend plastic, but a metal one is a nice one to have for those SUPER high -high spots! Happy pushing!

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL | NEWS| SALLIE MAE STUDENT FINANCING GETS RIPPED!

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL | NEWS| SALLIE MAE STUDENT FINANCING GETS RIPPED!

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Training Schools

SALLIE MAE Financing for student loans gets RIPPED on 60 Minutes.. IN short, 60 minutes went on to basically say that students can get better, less expensive loans from private institutions than Sallie Mae.. here is a recent excerpt on the subject: allie Mae received the full “60 Minutes” treatment Sunday night, in a segment that highlighted criticism that the student loan giant profits on the backs of students and taxpayers.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Training Schools

The issues raised in the segment (some highlights of which are available on the CBS show’s Web site) wouldn’t surprise anyone who has kept an eye on student-loan debates over the last decade. But by focusing on individual borrowers, the show put human faces on the issues — and reached many millions more than the reports that policy analysts regularly release on loan policy. The show gave several examples of borrowers who were shocked to find how much greater their loan repayments were than the sums they borrowed. Each of these borrowers also had various difficulties that the show portrayed Sallie Mae as being “unforgiving” in handling. One student found himself unemployed, another was diagnosed with an illness, and a third lost his home in an earthquake. Sallie Mae was described as refusing to help these borrowers, one of whom helped create a Web site, Student Loan Justice, that criticizes the lending industry. One expert interviewed by Lesley Stahl described student borrowers as being “served up like turkeys at a Thanksgiving dinner.” The show also made hay of the fact that the company’s chairman and former chief executive, Albert L. Lord, has been highly compensated and is building a personal golf course. Officials declined to be interviewed on camera, and provided CBS with written answers to questions. The show was the subject of speculation by student aid experts in the last week, and anticipation grew when Sallie Mae sent out a memo to colleges about the pending show and sharing the written answers it gave to “60 Minutes.” “With nine million borrowers, it is disappointing that ‘60 Minutes’ chose to spotlight three of our former customers who have not repaid their taxpayer funded loans. It certainly does not reflect the experiences of the vast majority of our customers, who have had the opportunity to attend your schools and fulfill their dreams of obtaining a college education,” said the letter from Sallie Mae to its clients. In an e-mail response to a question about the show, Martha Holler, a spokeswoman for Sallie Mae, called it “a one-sided and error-filled attack.” She said that Sallie Mae educates student borrowers on “their rights as well as their responsibilities,” and provides them with “all available repayment relief and flexibility available to them under the law.” She said that Sallie Mae has created and supported programs to help borrowers “in times of difficulty.” She noted as examples Sallie Mae’s creation of interest-free financing for those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, a fund created to help borrowers in families of those killed on 9/11, and a new program to help borrowers with serious illnesses or disabilities. From a policy perspective, the show questioned whether the student loan system is rigged in Sallie Mae’s favor because of the payments it received from students who repay loans, from the government for defaulted loans, and from agencies it owns that profit from collecting student loans. The show also noted the significant contributions that Sallie Mae and its employees have provided to members of Congress who write student-loan legislation. “Sallie Mae gets to play every hand at the poker table,” Elizabeth Warren, a Harvard Law School professor and an expert on bankruptcy, said on the show. Stahl said that several government reports had found that the direct lending program — in which colleges provide loans directly to students rather than involving private lenders — is more efficient than the guaranteed loan program in which Sallie Mae is the market leader. Direct lending, first enacted during the Clinton administration, has been praised in some reports by independent agencies as costing much less than the programs involving private lenders, although direct lending has also faced plenty of criticism and has seen its share of the loan market drop. The answers provided by Sallie Mae on this question cited reports about the costs of the direct lending program. Sallie Mae also took issue with the “60 Minutes” contention that it benefits in any borrowing scenario. Sallie Mae said that it takes on real risks that students may default, and that the company does best financially when students repay on time, so that its interests and those of borrowers and the government are aligned."

No. Do they want to run the Paintless Dent Repair market and force all others into the unemployment line? Yes. Hell yes. So thats why many of us non- Dent Wizard tech types continue to expose their weaknesses. You would think a company that is owned by Manheim Auctions and Cox Communications (A publicly held company) would manage a tighter ship..they dont (Thankfully). Here are some snapshots of a 6 YEAR Master Tech at one local auction- Note- These photos would challenge my most struggling tech student that I have seen in some years. Funny thing is, there were holes. Now Dent Wizard will tell you they do NOT drill. Nevermind they give out a drill and hole bit to all new technicians after schooling..that isnt for drilling, huh.. :)

And this was one car of MANY... This poor Eclipse never even had a chance. The dent is volcanoed all around and the center was never even kissed. The tech really struggled with 3 dents all around this car, in and out of braced areas. So, moral of the story-dont worry about the Wiz or any other tech- Applied properly, you can smoke just about anyone.

Peak was $6800, low was $150. MIDWEST Ranging from $250 per car (average 4 cars per 8 hour period repaired) to $2900 per single car repaired in 8 hour period. Peak was $4600, low was $200. NORTHEAST Ranging from $600 per car (average 3 cars per 8 hour period repaired) to $2100 per single car repaired in 8 hour period. Peak was $7400, low was $350. PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL-what are certified cars and why the PDR Marketer should care

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL-what are certified cars and why the PDR Marketer should care IF you are a professional Paintless Dent Repair Marketer, or want to be, take note of this Paintless Dent Removal article. Certified cars. What are they? Many of the major factories found out that many of us consumers do not trust used car salesman and dealers. So they devised the certified car program, whereas the car is guaranteed to have certain criteria. The dealer pays the factory money to have each car certified, and the consumer also pays more, but in the end they are supposed to have a better product. Usually included in this scheme is dent removal and cosmetic repairs, that is, the car is guaranteed not to have dents..(this is where you come in). So, when you are selling your service, working the certified program back at the dealers and checking their lot to make sure they are doing the same is a great angle. Here is another: Car auctions are also getting into the certified game. They want their customers to also have the same peice of mind when buying their products, and also are now reconditioning and certifying certain vehicles that meet the criteria that they each set forth. Can you see the advantage for yourself? Of course you can- you can also market your services to these people as well. They pay the auctions a bit more to have the certified moniker on each car (alot less than dealers pay the manufacturer by the way) and buyers (Dealers) traditionally pay quite a bit more for cert vehicles. Here is an example that might surprise you- A recent study was conducted for a major vehicle finance company via a third party research entity, and they determined through extensive onsite studies at auto auctions that the average (AVERAGE) price deduction for a car with cigarette smoke is $550. That means for a car that stinks of cigarettes, the dealers pay, on average, $550 less than if it didnt stink of ciggies. Wow. Imagine what they discount for dents, or certified vs. non certified. Dont worry-the studies have been done, it is measureable, and it is significant. So- the moral of the story is this: On the retail level, clean cars bring more money. On the wholesale level, clean cars bring more money. See a common denominator here? Use this information and make more money people.. Happy pushing!

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS- TRAINING MYTHS

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS- TRAINING MYTHS Betcha didnt know that over 100 people read this blog daily? Also bet you didnt know that many of them are PDR newbies, or soon-to-be techs. Yeah we have some pro's lurking here too :) , but many are either PDR business types, salespeople, marketers or owners. This article is dedicated to the newbies. PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL TRAINING MYTHS Myth #1. PDR is easy. I always hear this one.."I had my car fixed last week and it looked so easy, so I want to get some tools and do my own dents on my benz.." Huh? Are you I N S A N E!? You WILL crack your paint, you WILL ruin the dent, and you WILL be sorry!. Paintless Dent REmoval is an ART. Myth #2. Paintless Dent Removal must be learned over a period or weeks or months. False. IF you are stuck in an auditorium style class and the "instructor" is teaching from the podium, then yes, plan on attending for a few months. IF you are getting one on one attention from a pro who knows people, knows PDR and knows how to make people shine, figure 1-2 weeks max. Myth #3. You will only need a few tools to do PDR. Yeah right. All the makes, all the models, all the years, and only a few tools will reach all the panels and locations? Think again. More tools, more options, more success. Common sense here, people. Try and look at why those people are pushing the few tool option on you...maybe they buy the tools and are a reseller, and as such the costs are high, so in order to offset the pain for you, they tell you only to buy a few tools, hey , the pro's rely on only a few tools, shouldnt you? Wrong. The pro's have favorites, but they use dozens..probably over 70 tools. Most pro's have 2-3 complete sets. So, ask yourself again-more tools bad? No.,more tools =GOOD.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Schools

Myth #4. Certified Paintless Dent Removal is best. Well, this one is great. Marketers have had a field day manipulating the unsuspecting public with the "certified" moniker. Even used car dealers have loved this term and used it to oblivion, and yes, the public follows and buys into it. Certified-is that some sort of industry recognized term? No. do insurance companies recognize a school or student as certified? No. So what does certified mean if there is no agency or governing body issuing a certification? Answer: Nothing. There is no such thing as a Paintless Dent Repair Certification. And there are more Paintless Dent Removal Myths, but for now, we will leave you with these! Happy pushing! (now go make some money!)

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS - ITS ON FOR A GREAT HAIL REPAIR YEAR

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Training Schools

HOUSTON- WE HAVE HAIL!! Yessiree. 06' is on point for some good ol boys to be makin beeeg dollas. Maybe its global warming, or maybe its just cyclical, but every year PDR related hail repairs are growing at astounding #'s. We also have a huge increase in hurricanes, and many PDR techs have made a mint in New Orleans with storm related damages. As of late, Missouri, and the south east have ALOT of nice work on the ground. WE have had calls from dozens of cities with damage and storm cites with a great need for techs. If you are a hail tech reading this (one, you should be pushing, not reading!) Do your diligence and track the storms and damages and you should easily find gold. HINT: When you see a storm report, dont go for the storm epicenter. Do your research and you will find a path that the storm takes: Follow it in front or behind and you will find other damage areas that were likely not reported and there is where you will have a virtual competition free environment for a good period and do very well. We have seen six figure opportunities reap up in less than 30 days..its NOT uncommon.

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS Tech tip, Paintless Dent Repair Secrets.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Training Schools

TOOL SELECTION I get this question all the time (usually from those who have purchased tools but have NOT elected to get training..hmmm..maybe training IS a good idea!) So, back to the plot- WHAT tool should be used for "X" dent. Lets examine: A) Large, soft dent. ANSWER: Large, meaning over 4", should be pushed with a tip as large as a baseball, if that tip can be reached and accessed to the dent. IF not, the largest tip that can get on it is your choice. Tape? Yes you betcha- duct tape and be liberal too. B) Sharp, small dent. ANSWER: IF the dent is a crease or round dent with pointed, deep center, nothing (NOTHING) less than a sharp, semi pointed (SEMI, NOT POINTED LIKE A PENCIL!) tip should be used. If you can picture a butter knife tip, then about half that width, that is what is best. Why? The dent will mushroom in on itself if you use something more soft and blunt, giving way to more stretched metal, and a dent that wont go away.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Training Schools

OK- Problem: WHAT if your work area is obstructed, (SEE BRACE for example!) well then, you use the tool that is as close to the best option as possible. You see, a blockage or obstruction can best be delt with as best as possible. Sometimes we cant do better than a flat bracewire, yet the dent is extremely sharp. Oh well, follow the examples you learned in class (oops..if you took a class!) then all will turn out right! Happy pushing!

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Schools

should be pushed with a tip as large as a baseball, if that tip can be reached and accessed to the dent. IF not, the largest tip that can get on it is your choice. Tape? Yes you betcha- duct tape and be liberal too.

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS-RETAIL PRICING Thoughts

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Training Schools

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS

RETAIL PRICING THOUGHTS We have retail customers every day. Some days we kill it, and others there might only be a few. Either way, we're makin money. And student techs constantly ask us the same thing almost constantly: How much should I charge? That is a loaded question as you might assume, because how much to charge is something of an art. Here are several things to consider: A) The car. Ford Focus or CL 600? B) Damage extent. Dime sized or guava sized? C) Age of the vehicle. New or 1983? ALL of the above DO factor into appropriate pricing. Why? Well. The car is a LIABILITY. IF you happend to cause damage (break a window etc) the Ford will be much less to remand than the Benzo. The Damage extent is of course relative to your time. Everyone charges based upon time usually, so the great the time expenditure, the higher the price. Age of the vehicle. This one many overlook. Consider this: What would you place more value on: A 2000 Benz, or a 1985 Benz? Usually the newer car wins. So, add all the factors up, and then you can guage your price. Yes this is complicated, but in order to price fairly, you will need to do this. This is also why, coincidently why pricing estimation guides are not efficient with pricing, since the result needs to be qualitative, NOT quantitative. Example: If you have a Mistubishi Eclipse, 2004, with a baseball sized dent, a good price might be $95-125. Pretty cheap for such a large size repair, but the owner of that vehicle knows the current value of a 01 Mistu, and he will more than likely not want to pay premium rates since the intrinsic value of his car is not what it was when new.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Schools

Now how about a 2002 Lexus GS400 with a dime sized dent? Guess what: Same price as the Eclipse example. Why? The damage is much less severe..most pricing guides would peg this one at $65-$85 since the time investment will be minimal? Oh no, my friend... Price it that way and you are leaving bread on the table! Because the Lexus owner will care MORE in general than the Mistu customer and be willing to pay more. So the moral to this fable is to price with the above guidelines, and try to estimate not the price, but the overall value of the repair to the client. THEN you decide what it is worth to you, and price accordingly. This flexibility does not apply to hail damage, due to insurance company involvement.

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS-HAIL DAMAGE AGAIN-HERE COMES A STRONG APRIL!!

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Parts of Arkansas were battered with tornadoes and pelted with softball-sized hail Sunday in storms that destroyed several homes and left dozens of people injured. Severe thunderstorms also raced across parts of Tennessee, Illinois and Indiana, where concertgoers in downtown Indianapolis were sent scrambling for cover.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Training Schools

A tornado reported near the northeastern Arkansas town of Marmaduke sent at least 45 people to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center at Paragould, said a spokesman who added that many of the injuries were minor. Authorities closed off all access to Marmaduke, where damage was reportedly very heavy. It was one of a half dozen tornadoes reported in the northeast part of the state; state emergency managment officials reported at least two other injuries. A half-dozen houses were reported destroyed in Lawrence County, said Anthony Cavallucci of the National Weather Service office in Memphis, Tenn. Reports of hail and storm damage were widespread across northern and eastern Arkansas, but Newton Skiles, a meteorologist with the weather service's office at North Little Rock, said the softball-sized hailstones fell mostly in scattered rural areas where there were few homes or vehicles to be damaged. As the storms swept east, tornadoes were reported in several west Tennessee counties, causing some injuries, knocking out power and damaging buildings, officials said. In Indianapolis, the storm hit with heavy wind and rain that shook downtown office towers as thousands of fans departed a free John Mellencamp concert. Weather service radar tracked a powerful thunderstorm with a possible tornado through downtown Indianapolis, weather service meteorologist John Ogren said, but officials would not be able to confirm whether the storm was a tornado until they inspect damage on Monday. Earlier the line of storms swept through central and southern Indiana, causing widespread damage. There were no immediate reports of injuries but officials were just beginning to piece together the details Sunday night, Ogren said. "We've got such a pile (of damage reports) I've really not had a chance to see everything," he said. Utility crews were working late Sunday night to some 57,000 Cinergy customers across Indiana, said spokeswoman Angeline Protogere. Weather service personnel took shelter for about 10 minutes as high winds kicked up debris against the agency's building at the Indianapolis airport, and the downtown tower housing the Indianapolis bureau of The Associated Press shook badly enough to knock a clock off the wall. In Illinois, a tornado touched down in Fairview Heights east of St. Louis, causing damage to at least two stores, according to a police department dispatcher. A building, possibly a clothing store, collapsed and may have caused some injuries, Illinois Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Patti Thompson said.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Schools

"We've got reports of some damage in Taylorville and also a few other areas, including Monroe and Jefferson counties," she said, adding that most of the reports were from the southern portion of the state. A trailer park on Springfield's northeast side sustained damage from strong winds, and authorities said two women sustained minor injuries, The State Journal-Register in Springfield reported. George Preckwinkle, the owner of several hardware stores in central Illinois, said two-thirds of the roof of his Taylorville store was ripped off. Three employees were closing the store when they saw plants flying past the front window. That is when they went to the bathroom and locked themselves in. "That's pretty well gone, two-thirds of the store is soaked," he said. ___ Associated Press Writers Charles Wilson in Indianapolis and John O'Connor in Taylorville, Ill., contributed to this report.

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS- RETAIL BUSINESS IS UP UP UP !

Paintless Dent Removal RETAIL BUSINESS IS UP UP UP ! Do you care? If your Paintless Dent Removal business is strictly wholesale, probably not. If you are a senior citizen reading this article, probably not as well. BUT, If your Paintless Dent Removal business is partially retail related (private customers) then maybe, just M A Y B E you might have reason to get off your barcolounger. Why? Lets explore this, shall we?! 1) New car sales are DOWN DOWN DOWN. 2) People are keeping their cars longer, and as such seem to be putting money into them to preserve them. Thats right, people percieve their cars to be an investment. Is that wise? Well, ask your accountant. Regardless, they do on many levels and as such, a good marketer will target that. Spelled out simply? Go where THESE customers "are" and there is gold waiting for you there. Hmmm? Oh, your upset because we havent spelled out exactly how, when and where to market to the retail customer segment, have we? Well let me let you in on a little secret... Dent Wizard, Dent Pro and many others have spent TENS of MILLIONS (yes thats MILLIONS)on retail marketing, and have yet to break the code. PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR ON AIRPLANES

SO YOUR LEAR JET HAS A DOOR DING? Sorry bout that, fella! Maybe you were at Fashion Island dropping in to get a new Tommy Bahama and someone pulled up in a F150 and dropped a dingy on your fuselage? well, probably not. This article isnt about parking a Learjet at a mall..its really about the possibility of removing a dent from an aircraft, and yes, it is done regularly. By us? No., but yes, we have some experience here.. Article brought to you by the Paintless Dent Removal Experts, who make way to much money and dont really work at all, or it seems! Back to the story.. So, IS it possible to repair a dent on an aircraft? 1) Yes. 2) What type of aircraft? 767? Cessna? Gulfstream? Answer (A,B,C) All the above. BUT(T) there are subtle differences and notsosubtle differences, like A) Cessnas and other light aircraft are extremely light, thin aluminim sheetmetal and very easy to work with. BUT, if you personally try and tackle the repair and are not FAA approved to do so, you will need an article to be signed by the owner prior to doing so. B) 767's These babies are completley different that Light aircraft. The sheetmetal has a rockwell over 300 (that means the stuff is dang sheeit strong!!! and most PDR tools will not be very usefull, unless the stuff is heated up a bit, but this is for the pro, so stay away from large aircraft. We know, cause Delta Airlines works with us regularly!! C) Gulfstreams, Lears etc etc. These are usually more like light aircraft, and can usually be tackled, depending on what, where and how bad (hail, bird, person etc) So, did that help> I hope so. If not, heres your dollar back.. Have a nice one and fly safe, Brian Article brought to you by the Paintless Dent Repair Experts, who never have soup for breakfast.

10 Rules for Small Business Success

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Schools

Target You are not all things to all people. Decide on your niche--narrow your focus and broaden your appeal. Then kick ass and rule that niche- Be Different If your competitors are doing it, don't. Stand out from an overcrowded marketplace where so much of the advertising and products look the same. Differentiate and succeed. Build a Team Don't hire an employee to fill a position. Employ a person to be part of a team to build your business. Be Fast Time is the most precious commodity. When delivery is expected Friday, show up Thursday afternoon. Return calls and emails now. BUT-underpromise, overperform. IMPRESS. Say Thank You A lot. Tell your customers and employees how much you appreciate them. Better yet, do it the old fashioned way: take pen to paper and write them a note. Note- HANDWRITE IT.dont type Consistent is as Consistent does Make sure your business has a consistent look and feel. Small Business Marketing Reach Online Customers In Your Area With Targeted Ads From Google! adwords.google.com Small Business Marketing The Spot To Find It! It Is All Here. esmallbusinessmarketing.com Newsletter Marketing Create email newsletters in minutes w/ no-design, ready-made templates-- available all over the web- A customer must get the same flavor from everyone within your organization. Always. Smile Throw out the reasons you think people buy from you like price, product quality or your warranty. They buy because they like you. This works well with the topic below! Fanatical Optimism The glass must always be half full. Attitude will always win out in the end and infect all of those around you. Positive attitudes are infectious..infect your customers! Sell Soft Don't ever hard sell. Solve problems. Satisfy wants. Do what is truly best for your customer. Pressure will get you no where! Leave Your Well Known Comfort Zone Never accept the idea that this is the way you've always done it. Never accept that a new idea or technology could never work for you.

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL NEWS-car auctions

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Tools and Schools

Car auctions are a good place to get good a bargain on cars. But buying cars from auctions can be very complicated. This is particularly true for the uninitiated. Of course the cars in auctions are generally cheaper. But they are cheap because they lack the guarantees that come with cars bought from dealers. The rules in auctions are simple, you bid an item, you pay for it, and you own it.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Schools

It is therefore not advisable for persons without much experience in motor vehicles to just go to an auction and buy a car. What you’ll need if you’re planning to buy a car in an auction is a good eye, good observation skills and a willingness to learn the car auction process.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Schools < You can even make it a business by buying cars at auction and then selling them at a profit. There are several people who have made huge profits by buying and selling cars at auction.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Tools and Schools

There are basically two kinds of car auctions, local car auctions and online car auctions. Each of the auctions works differently. Each has a different set of rules so you must study them very carefully if you are planning to buy a car from either kind of auction.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Schools

If you want to buy a vehicle in a car auction you must first pre-register with the local auction you want to join. The pre-registration process won’t take much of your time and will provide you all the essential information that you will need in order to buy a car. An auction site will often have an auction staff who will explain to you the rules of their auction site and the procedures and instruction on how to participate and bid on the cars. It is wise to inspect the cars before the actual bidding begins. Ask the auction organizer or staff if they can allow you to take a closer look at the cars before the start of the actual auction. Another wise decision is to set your payment limit before the actual sale. This way, you won’t fall victim to the trap of overbidding.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Tools and Schools

As in other auctions, it is very important that you signal your bids carefully to the car auctioneer to avoid confusion. Settle your transaction as soon as the auction ends. Look for the block clerk and settle your accounts with him. A car auction staff will usually be available to assist you when you are ready to pay for the vehicle you have won. He should also be able to guarantee you a good title for the vehicle.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Tools and Schools

You must also check the vehicle after you have won and settling your account. Take the vehicle for a test drive and make sure that it conforms to the guarantee and representation made during the auction.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Schools

Most auction sites would accept check or credit card if you cannot pay the car with cash. An auction staff will also usually give you a third party financing offer. It is advisable though to have your own finances ready before entering a car auction. Outside financing is usually cheaper than most in-house financing of auction sites. Ask for an invoice copy from the auction staff. This will enable you to drive or ship your newly bought car to your location. Most car auction managers will give you good deals on shipping arrangements so inquire about this.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Schools

There really are no significant differences between a local auction and an online auction. Online car auctions work more or less the same way as local ones. The only disadvantage of online auction sites is that you won’t be able to inspect the car as you would in an actual car auction. In participating in online car auctions be sure that you will be provided with all the necessary information about the car upfront and that there is an actual photograph of the vehicle. Cars bought from an online auction are usually shipped to the buyer for a minimal fee. Inspect the car immediately upon arrival at your location to minimize risks. You are now ready for your first car auction. Happy bidding!

BUSINESS 101- WRONG TIME TO PROMOTE??

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Tools and Schools

The Wrong Time to Promote? By: Kara Kelso This might be a given for some people, but it still needs to be said. If someone has not specifically asked for your information, don't send it. Simple as that. Not only are you wasting time, you are wasting money as well. It could also have an impact on your image, so just don't do it.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Training Schools

Often times on message board was see someone simply say "I want to work for home" and is bombarded with offers. The correct thing to do in this situation is to first find out what kind of interests they have. You may want them as a recruit, but you don't want them if they have zero interest in your products and will quit in just a few short months.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Training Schools

Another example of a wrong time to promote was a snail mail we received. This person had good intentions I'm sure, but what they did not realize is we have other businesses. The business information this person sent was in direct conflict with one of these other businesses. If you were a Mary Kay rep, would you purposely send business information to an Avon rep? I would hope not, but it's amazing how many do this every day without realizing it.

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Schools Finally another point we need to bring up is articles. While they are a far cry from business information and don't even fall into the same category, we can't tell you how many articles we get a day that have absolutely nothing to do with our publication. If you write articles, which you should in any business, make sure you know where your articles are going. Gardening has nothing to do with a business newsletter, so don't send it there. Read publisher guidelines, and the publication if you can before submitting. Avoid auto submissions that don't tell you where your article is going. The bottom line is - if it's not asked for, don't send it! Your reputation, time, and money are at risk when you send information at random.

Paintless Dent Removal News-Jaguar Cars

This Article brought to you by Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Training Schools

Jaguar Cars is a British based subsidiary of the American Ford Motor Company famous for luxury saloon and sports cars. Because Jaguar occupies both the performance and luxury markets, its competition is particularly diverse. It includes BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Cadillac, Lexus, Infiniti, as well as Lincoln, another Ford subsidiary.

History Founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, by two motorcycle enthusiasts, William Lyons and William Walmsley, it was renamed Jaguar Cars after World War II because of the unfavorable connotations of the initials, SS. The company is now owned by the Ford Motor Company. Jaguar is known for its luxury saloons and sports cars, market segments it has been in since the 1930s. The name is pronounced /ˈdʒægjuːə/ in the UK, /ˈdʒægˌwɑɹ/ in the USA. Jaguar merged with the British Motor Corporation (the Austin-Morris combine) to form British Motor Holdings in 1966. After merger with Leyland and Rover, the resultant company then became British Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968. Financial difficulties and the publication of the Ryder Report led to effective nationalisation in 1975 and it became British Leyland Ltd known just as BL.

In 1984, Jaguar was floated off as a separate company on the stock market - one of the Thatcher government's many privatizations - with the rest as the Austin Rover group. Then it was taken over by Ford in 1989-1990. In 1999 it was made part of Ford's new Premier Automotive Group along with Aston Martin, Volvo Cars and Lincoln. Land Rover was added to the group in 2001 following its purchase from BMW. The company was originally located in Blackpool but relocated to Coventry to be at the heart of the British motor industry. Today, Jaguars are assembled at Castle Bromwich in Birmingham and Halewood in Liverpool. The historic Browns Lane plant closed in 2005 leaving aluminium vehicle production at Castle Bromwich and steel at Halewood. Jaguar owns the Daimler car company (not to be confused with Daimler-Benz), which it bought in 1960 from the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA). Since then Daimler has been little more than a brand name for Jaguar's most luxurious saloons.

Introducing the large Mark VII Sedan in 1951, a car especially conceived for the American Market, Jaguar cars soon found itself overwhelmed with orders. The Mark VII and its successors gathered rave reviews from magazines such as Road and Track and Motor.

In 1956 a Jaguar Mark VII won the prestigious Monte-Carlo Rally. The 1955 Mark I was the first monocoque (unibody) car from Jaguar. In 1959, the car was improved with a larger engine and wider windows and became the Mark II, one of the most recognizable Jaguar models ever produced. Of the more recent saloons, the most significant is the XJ (1968-present), still the definitive Jaguar car for many. Since 1968 the Series I XJ has seen major changes in 1973 (to Series II), 1979 (to Series III), 1986 [Europe] / 1987 [United States] (XJ40), 1995 (X300), 1997 (to the V-8 powered X308), 2003 (the present model, X350). The most luxurious XJ models carry either the Vanden Plas or Daimler nameplates.

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL-OUR car of the YEAR 2006

2006 CAR OF THE YEAR IS.................

Brought to you by all of us at The Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Repair Experts!

The Honda Civic is an automobile manufactured by Honda. It was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door sedan, followed by a 3-door hatchback version that September. With the "east–west" placement of its 1169 cc engine and front wheel drive, like the British Mini, the car provided good interior space despite overall small dimensions. Early models of the Civic were typically outfitted with a basic AM radio, rudimentary heater, foam cushioned plastic trim, two-speed wipers, and painted steel rims with a chromed wheel nut cap. The current Civic has become somewhat more luxurious. Still, many regard the Civic as representing a good value for the money, combining good performance, reliability and economy, as well as a very low rate of depreciation, resulting in a low total cost per mile or per year.

Brought to you by all of us at The Superior Auto Institute, the Paintless Dent Removal Experts!

Models and equipment Initially the Civic was sold with either a four-speed manual or a two speed "HondaMatic" model. Later models went to a five-speed manual and a full four-speed automatic transmission. Like the Mini, the transaxle was integrated with the engine unit, but driveshaft technology in the Civic was well ahead of the universal joints of the Mini. The Civic evolved from having a 1335 cc engine (1980) to having engines with larger capacities and more creature comforts (air conditioning, power windows, etc.) through the 1990s and into the 2000s.

Beginning in 1997 [1], Honda produced the first iteration of Civic to receive the "Type-R" appellation (applied first to the Integra Type-R), with the EK9 chassis Civic Type-R. The EK9-generation Civic Type-R had a maximum output in the range of 180 hp (143 kW), increased over the more common 160 hp (119 kW) B16A engine in the SiR/VTi models, and included various alterations to the chassis to improve handling and reduce weight (such as better welding of the frame, and removal of the radio and noise-suppressing materials). In 2001, Honda announced the release of the Civic Type-R for the EP chassis, a more sporty variant of the most recent model of Civic and successor to the EK9 Civic Type-R. Unlike the EK9 version, which was produced solely in Japan, the EP Civic Type-R is produced in the United Kingdom and exported to Japan. The EP Civic Type-R has a specific output of 200 PS (197 hp/147 kW) at 8000 rpm, a six-speed manual transmission, a reworked exterior with a bullet-like hatchback design, aeroform bumpers, spoiler, and 17 in wheels. The interior of the Type-R includes Recaro seats and a Momo steering wheel, and the model also includes Type-R-specific badging, a helical limited-slip differential, and has been reported to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in about 6.8 seconds (6.6 in facelifted model).

The hybrid version became available in 2003, which uses both a small (1.3 L) main gasoline engine and auxiliary electric motors. The electric motors are powered by a battery array which is charged by regenerative braking during deceleration, which reduces exhaust emissions and extends fuel mileage. The new Sport Hatchback model with futuristic styling was unveiled in August 2005 for the European market only. This model featured from launch a 1.3 L I-DSI and a 1.8 L i-VTEC rated at 86 PS and 140 PS respectively, with 108 and 130 mph top speeds and 14.2 and 8.6 sec 0-100 km/h sprint. The Sport Hatchback is also available with a 2.2 L I-CTDI diesel engine from the Accord, F-RV and CRV, rated at 140 PS and is capable of 129 mph and accelerating from 0-60 mph in 8.4 seconds. International marketing While the Civic is sold in largely the same form worldwide, differences in the name of the models exist between markets. In Japan, the hatchback Civic is just called "Civic" while the sedan model is called "Civic Ferio" - however with the current release of the new Civic in Japan only in sedan form, this naming convention has stopped. In Europe and the United States, "Civic" generically refers to any of the coupe, sedan or hatchback models, though in Europe the coupe is branded the "Civic Coupe". A five-door station wagon model called the Civic Shuttle (also Civic Pro in Japan) was available from the early to late 1980s until the early 1990s (this brand name would later be revived for the mid-1990s Honda Shuttle people carrier, known in some markets as the Honda Odyssey).

Other models have been built off the Civic platform, including the Ballade, the CR-X, Quint, Concerto, Domani, CR-X Del Sol, and the Integra. Also, at various times, the Civic or Civic-derived models have been sold by marques other than Honda — for example, Rover sold the 200, 400 and 45, each of which were Civic-based at some point (first 200s were the second generation Ballade; from 1990 the 200 and 400 were based on the Concerto; the 400 was the 1995 Domani), as was their predecessor, the Triumph Acclaim, based on the first Honda Ballade. The Honda Domani, another series based on the Civic, was sold as the Isuzu Gemini in Japan (1992–2000), and confusingly the 5-door Domani was sold as the Honda Civic (along with the "real" EK Civics) in Europe from around 1995 to 2000. In Thailand, the Civic was available as the four-door Isuzu Vertex (1995–2000). The sixth-generation station wagon was sold as the Honda Orthia (Honda Partner) as the downmarket commercial variant). The seventh-generation minivan model is called the Honda Stream or the Honda Civic Stream. In Canada, the sixth and seventh generation Civics where mildly redesigned to create the Acura EL until the advent of the eight generation Civic, which was used to create the Acura CSX. The three-door hatchback body style has been somewhat unpopular in the United States, but has achieved wide acceptance in Canada, as well as popularity in Japan and European markets. Starting in 2002, the Civic three-door hatchback has been built exclusively at Honda's manufacturing plant in Swindon, England - previously a five-door "Civic" (essentially a rebadged Domani as sold in Japan) and the "Civic Aerodeck" (probably based on the Japanese model Partner or Orthia) were built here for sale in Europe along with the Japanese EK series Civics. Accordingly, all instances of the current model (left or right hand drive, anywhere in the world) are British-made cars designed with Japanese engineering, except for the US-built two-door coupe.

Historical development An interesting engine development used in some 1975 to 1983 models as well as all carbureted models through 1987 was the CVCC system, where a small auxilary inlet valve allowed a rich fuel/air mixture into the cylinder near the spark plug, while the main charge was lean. This design could meet clean air emission standards without the power robbing emission control devices fitted to many cars of that time. This engine was a rare example of commercial development of a stratified charge engine. Some current generation Civics use VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control), and are approaching the size and weight of the early Honda Accord models, which were initially introduced as a larger, upmarket alternative to the Civic in the mid 1970s. Modifications and the enthusiast community In many areas, the Civic is popular as a platform for modification and customization by an enthusiast community. Civics prior to the fifth and sixth generation had a high power-to-mass ratio compared to many competitors which allowed for naturally better acceleration, braking and handling given similar parts. As well, advanced four-wheel independent suspension inspired by Honda's racing research allowed class-leading handling in the 1988-1991 series which continued on until the 2000 model update. Also, because of parts interchangeability, many Civics which were originally equipped with lower-power engines can later be equipped with a newer Honda engine, a turbocharger, or even fitted with a non-Honda engine. The City Turbo engine is a good fit to the Civic engine bay in many models, and provides a significant increase in the power-to-weight ratio compared to the non-performance engines, thus boosting performance. Also, many fourth, fifth, and sixth-generation Civics can be similarly upgraded by replacing their original economy-oriented engines with a DOHC VTEC engine — commonly one of the B-series engines such as a B16A, which was also original equipment in some performance models of the Civic. The most recent models, while still competitive as tuner projects, have succumbed to added weight, reduced suspension technology and higher centres of gravity which has significantly reduced their appeal amongst passionate drivers. These changes made the car safer on the whole though, and helped the Civic sell better to the average consumer. In its 2006 Civic Si concept models, however, Honda strongly indicated that the Civic line would see a return to sportiness and performance. This newest generation of the Civic Si offers a 197 hp (150 kW) K20Z3 powered engine.

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL ARTICLE-History of the Modern Car

The modern automobile The modern automobile powered by the Otto gasoline engine was invented in Germany by Carl Benz. Even though Carl Benz is credited with the invention of the modern automobile several other German engineers work on building the first automobile at the same time. The inventors are: Carl Benz on July 3, 1886 in Mannheim, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in Stuttgart (also inventors of the first motor bike) and in 1888/89 German-Austrian inventor Siegfried Marcus in Vienna.

Steam powered vehicles Steam-powered self-propelled cars were devised in the late 18th century. The first self-propelled car was built by Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot in 1769—it could attain speeds of up to 6 km/h. In 1771 he designed another steam-driven car, which ran so fast that it rammed into a wall, producing the world’s first car accident. Combustion engine In 1807 François Isaac de Rivaz designed the first internal combustion engine (sometimes abbreviated "ICE" today). He subsequently used it to develop the world’s first vehicle to run on such an engine, one that used a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen to generate energy. This spawned the birth of a number of designs based on the internal combustion engine in the early nineteenth century with little or no degree of commercial success. In 1860 thereafter, Jean Joseph Etienne Lenoir built the first successful two-stroke gas driven engine. In 1862 he again built an experimental vehicle driven by his gas-engine, which ran at a speed of 3 km/h. These cars became popular and by 1865 could be frequently seen on the roads. The first American automobiles with gasoline-powered internal combustion engines were completed in 1877 by George Baldwin Selden of Rochester, New York, who applied for a patent on the automobile in 1879. Selden received his patent and later sued the Ford Motor company for infringing his patent. Henry Ford was notoriously against the American patent system, and Selden's case against Ford went all the way to the Supreme Court, who ruled that Ford had to pay a penalty to Selden, but could continue manufacturing automobiles, because the technology had changed quite a bit by that time.

Meanwhile, notable advances in steam power evolved in Birmingham, England by the Lunar Society. It was here that the term horsepower was first used. It was in Birmingham also that the first British four wheel petrol-driven automobiles were built in 1895 by Frederick William Lanchester who also patented the disc brake in the city. Electric vehicles were produced by a small number of manufacturers. Innovation The first automobile patent in the United States was granted to Oliver Evans in 1789; in 1804 Evans demonstrated his first successful self-propelled vehicle, which not only was the first automobile in the USA but was also the first amphibious vehicle, as his steam-powered vehicle was able to travel on wheels on land and via a paddle wheel in the water. On 5 November 1895, George B. Selden was granted a United States patent for a two-stroke automobile engine (U.S. Patent 549160). This patent did more to hinder than encourage development of autos in the USA. A major breakthrough came with the historic drive of Bertha Benz in 1888. Steam, electric, and gasoline powered autos competed for decades, with gasoline internal combustion engines achieving dominance in the 1910s. The interior of a modern luxury car, a Bentley Continental GTThe large scale, production-line manufacturing of affordable automobiles was debuted by Oldsmobile in 1902, then greatly expanded by Henry Ford in the 1910s. Early automobiles were often referred to as 'horseless carriages', and did not stray far from the design of their predecessor. Through the period from 1900 to the mid 1920s, development of automotive technology was rapid, due in part to the hundreds of small manufacturers competing to gain the world's attention. Key developments included electric ignition and the electric self-starter (both by Charles Kettering, for the Cadillac Motor Company in 1910-1911), independent suspension, and four-wheel brakes.

By the 1930s, most of the technology used in automobiles had been invented, although it was often re-invented again at a later date and credited to someone else. For example, front-wheel drive was re-introduced by Andre Citroën with the launch of the Traction Avant in 1934, though it appeared several years earlier in road cars made by Alvis and Cord, and in racing cars by Miller (and may have appeared as early as 1897). After 1930, the number of auto manufacturers declined sharply as the industry consolidated and matured. Since 1960, the number of manufacturers has remained virtually constant, and innovation slowed. For the most part, "new" automotive technology was a refinement on earlier work, though these refinements were sometimes so extensive as to render the original work nearly unrecognizable. The chief exception to this was electronic engine management, which entered into wide use in the 1960s, when electronic parts became cheap enough to be mass-produced and rugged enough to handle the harsh environment of an automobile. Developed by Bosch, these electronic systems have enabled automobiles to drastically reduce exhaust emissions while increasing efficiency and power.

Model changeover and design change

This article brought to you by Paintless Dent Repair Training and Tools

A Ford Taurus, a modern family car which has gone through a number of generations.Cars are not merely continually perfected mechanical contrivances; since the 1920s nearly all have been mass-produced to meet a market, so marketing plans and manufacture to meet them have often dominated automobile design. It was Alfred P. Sloan who established the idea of different makes of cars produced by one firm, so that buyers could "move up" as their fortunes improved. The makes shared parts with one another so that the larger production volume resulted in lower costs for each price range. For example, in the 1950s, Chevrolet shared hood, doors, roof, and windows with Pontiac; the LaSalle of the 1930s, sold by Cadillac, used the cheaper mechanical parts made by the Oldsmobile division. He also conceived of the notion of the yearly model change-over, which became a three-year cycle. In the second year of the cycle, the superficial appearance of the cars changed incidentally; for the third, major changes took place, e.g., the fender dies for the 1957 Chevrolet had to be modified to produce thin, pointed fins and squarish headlamp housings. In the next cycle, the doors, roof, trunk, and often the suspension would have to be redesigned. Factories and the yearly work schedule had to be specialized to accommodate these changeovers.

Such patterns became dominant for the Big Three automakers in the U.S., though European firms neither amalgamated nor could afford the changeover. After the 1950s, when American firms tackled the technical problems of high-compression V8, automatic transmissions, and air conditioners, investment shifted to meeting the market for non-technical matters. This was criticized as "planned obsolescence," although by this it was meant that the car would simply be made to go out of style rather than really being technically surpassed. For example, only those few American cars of the 1960s with front-wheel drive or a rear engine had a fully independent rear suspension because the Hotchkiss drive was cheaper, and people were used to it. Such bad investment left American firms unprepared for the Oil Crisis of the 1970s and the rise of imported luxury cars in the 1980s.

Regulation In almost every nation, laws have been enacted governing the operation of motor vehicles. Most of this legislation, including limits on allowable speed and other rules of the road, are designed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and simultaneously protect the safety of vehicle occupants, cyclists, and pedestrians. In 1965, in the U.S. state of California, state legislation was introduced to regulate exhaust emissions, the first such legislation in the world. Answering this new interest in environmental and public safety issues, the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) both introduced legislation in 1968 which substantially altered the course of automotive development. Since the U.S. market was the largest in the world (and California the largest market in the U.S.), manufacturers worldwide were forced to adapt. For the first time, safety devices were mandatory, as were controls on harmful emissions. Prior to this legislation, even seat belts were considered extra-cost options by many manufacturers. Other countries followed by introducing their own safety and environmental legislation. In time, meeting regulations became the main challenge for the engineers designing new cars. In the decade from 1975 to 1985, the world's manufacturers struggled to meet the new regulations, some producing substandard cars with reduced reliability as a result. However, by the end of this period, everyone had learned how to handle the newly regulated environment. The manufacturers discovered that safety and environmentalism sold cars, and some began introducing environmental and safety advances on their own initiative.

Environmental improvements The automobile was hailed as an environmental improvement over horses when it was first introduced. Before its introduction, in New York City, over 10,000 tons of manure had to be removed from the streets daily. Among the first environmental advances are the so-called alternative fuels for the internal combustion engine, which have been around for many years. Early in automotive history, before gasoline was widely available at corner pumps, cars ran on many fuels, including kerosene (paraffin) and coal gas. Alcohol fuels were used in racing cars before and just after World War II. Today, methanol and ethanol are used as petrol extenders in some countries, notably in Australia and the United States. In countries with warmer climates, such as Brazil, alcohol derived from sugar cane is often used as a substitute fuel.

In many countries, plentiful supplies of natural gas have seen methane sold as compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane sold as liquified petroleum gas (LPG) alongside petrol and diesel fuels since the 1970s. While a standard automotive engine will run on these fuels with very low exhaust emissions, there are some performance differences, notably a loss of power due to the lower energy content of the alternative fuels. The need to equip filling stations and vehicles with pressurized vessels to hold these gaseous fuels and more stringent safety inspections, means that they are only economical when used for a long distance, or if there are installation incentives. They are most economical where petrol has high taxes and the alternative fuels do not.

Alternative fuels and batteries Main articles: Alternative fuel cars, and [[{{{2}}}]], and [[{{{3}}}]], and [[{{{4}}}]], and [[{{{5}}}]] With heavy taxes on fuel, particularly in Europe and tightening environmental laws, particularly in California, and the possibility of further restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions, work on alternative power systems for vehicles continues. Diesel-powered cars can run with little or no modification on 100% pure biodiesel, a fuel that can be made from vegetable oils. Many cars that currently use gasoline can run on ethanol, a fuel made from plant sugars. Most cars that are designed to run on gasoline are capable of running with 15% ethanol mixed in, and with a small amount of redesign, gasoline-powered vehicles can run on ethanol concentrations as high as 85%. All petrol fuelled cars can run on LPG. There has been some concern that the ethanol-gasoline mixtures prematurely wear down seals and gaskets. Further, the use of higher levels of alcohol requires that the automobile carry/use twice as much. Therefore, if your vehicle is capable of 300 miles on a 15-gallon tank, the efficiency is reduced to approximately 150 miles. Of course, certain measures are available to increase this efficiency, such as different camshaft configurations, altering the timing/spark output of the ignition, or simply, using a larger fuel tank.

In the United States, alcohol fuel was produced in corn-alcohol stills until Prohibition criminalized the production of alcohol in 1919. Brazil is the only country which produces ethanol-running cars, since the late 1970s. Attempts at building viable battery-powered electric vehicles continued throughout the 1990s (notably General Motors with the EV1), but cost, speed and inadequate driving range made them uneconomical. Battery powered cars have used lead-acid batteries which are greatly damaged in their recharge capacity if discharged beyond 75% on a regular basis and NiMH batteries. Current research and development is centered on "hybrid" vehicles that use both electric power and internal combustion. The first hybrid vehicle available for sale in the USA was the Honda Insight. As of 2005, The car is still in production and achieves around 60 mpg.

Other R&D efforts in alternative forms of power focus on developing fuel cells, alternative forms of combustion such as GDI and HCCI, and even the stored energy of compressed air (see [[water Engine]]). Safety Automobiles were a significant improvement in safety on a per passenger mile basis, over the horse based travel that they replaced. Millions have been able to reach medical care much more quickly when transported by ambulance. Accidents seem as old as automobile vehicles themselves. Joseph Cugnot crashed his steam-powered "Fardier" against a wall in 1770. The first recorded automobile fatality was Bridget Driscoll on 1896-08-17 in London and the first in the United States was Henry Bliss on 1899-09-13 in New York City.

Worldwide, every year more than a million people are killed and about 50 million people are wounded in collisions (according to WHO estimates). Cars also cause innumerable injuries and deaths among millions of animals (see roadkill). Major factors in accidents include the use of alcohol or other drugs, inattentiveness, the use of handheld mobile phones, tiredness, road hazards such as snow, potholes, and animals, and recklessness. Special safety features have been built into cars for years, some for the safety of car's occupants only, some for the safety of others. Cars have two basic safety problems: They have human drivers who make mistakes, and the wheels lose traction near a half gravity of deceleration. Automated control has been seriously proposed and successfully prototyped. Shoulder-belted passengers could tolerate a 32G emergency stop (reducing the safe intervehicle gap 64-fold) if high-speed roads incorporated a steel rail for emergency braking. Both safety modifications of the roadway are thought to be too expensive by most funding authorities, although these modifications could dramatically increase the number of vehicles that could safely use a high-speed highway. Early safety research focused on increasing the reliability of brakes and reducing the flammability of fuel systems. For example, modern engine compartments are open at the bottom so that fuel vapors, which are heavier than air, vent to the open air. Brakes are hydraulic so that failures are slow leaks, rather than abrupt cable breaks. Systematic research on crash safety started in 1958 at Ford Motor Company. Since then, most research has focused on absorbing external crash energy with crushable panels and reducing the motion of human bodies in the passenger compartment.

There are standard tests for safety in new automobiles, like the EuroNCAP and the US NCAP tests. There are also tests run by organizations such as IIHS and backed by the insurance industry. Despite technological advances, there is still significant loss of life from car accidents: About 40,000 people die every year in the U.S., with similar trends in Europe. This figure increases annually in step with rising population and increasing travel, but the rate per capita and per mile travelled decreases steadily. The death toll is expected to nearly double worldwide by 2020. A much higher number of accidents result in injury or permanent disability.

Hail Damage is going off-Paintless Dent Removal techs are millionaires

Paintless Dent Removal Millionaires? Paintless Dent Removal School This blog brought to you by the hard workin folk at nodents.com Nah..common' now. Millionaires???? You mean some idiot from Hickville USA, with no education, no college degree, no long term education of any sort can knock out millions? REALLY?? Yes, really. AND, its not all that uncommon. Lets examine the sitch more closely, shall we? A Million dollareenies. Out of a 5 day work week, working 52 weeks a year (assuming they did this, which most do NOT!).. that would equate to 260 working days. Divide that number by 1 MILLION DOLLARS, and you get $3846.15 daily. That means, to generate 1 MIL annually, working every week day, you would need to hit $3850 a day. Paintless Dent Removal School This blog brought to you by the hard workin folk at nodents.com Thats about what many take home monthly, huh.? So, figure that is the difference between Joe Average and Joe PDR millionaire. Ok-we havent really learned anything new yet, right? Right. Lets peel this onion and see what is in the inner layers..its bound to get juicy (and maybe make a few of your eyes water out there..) 1) Most Paintless Dent Removal Techs dont hit $3850 a day. Most would be happy to hit $1000.00 daily, and there are a good number across the states who do just that. Some auction techs hit $2000-$3000 daily. Most of them work for DW., and a few are self employed (rare though!). So, how about the others? OK- LETS say that YOU are a Paintless Dent Removal Tech. You sell a dealer with damage to 800 cars. The average repair for the cars is $1500.00 That measures out to:1.2 MILLION DOLLARS. Nice, huh? And chances are, unless the dealer is self insured, the insurance company is footing the bill, not the dealer. All the better.. So, does the one tech who sold the job get all the dough? No, probably not, unless he's a madman and can mash cars like no other and do em all in 30 days or less (unlikely). More likely, he sold the job and is getting 40-50% of the gig, plus any work he pushes out himself. So he might net 600k, but that is likely the high end of the scale. He may have some other costs (kickbacks to the dealer, lodging, etc) but he will probably net out at least 400k. Paintless Dent Removal School This blog brought to you by the hard workin folk at nodents.com So, 400k in 1-2 months. Not too shabby, Scooby. So what if he did this, lets say, 2-3 times in a year (not all that uncommon my friend). Even if he only got $200k per sale...thats $600,000.00 net. And probably not a 12 month proposition. My buddys who do this seem to get it done in 6-8 months, not 12. They even get BORED after their year is up-too much time at home with the wives... Oh yeah..lets say you dont have the chutspah to go out and close a dealer deal for 1M+..what then>? You get on the other side of the equation (the 50-60% side)_ and push metal. PDR Hail techs average 50-70% of the bill, and usually get over $1000.00 daily. That, times 260 days (if you worked year round) is $260,000.00 also!! I would estimate most hail techs are in the 150-$175k range..they dont like to work year round...unless they are preparing to retire (see Rick Hummert..)<- phenomenal Hail Tech!>>> So, lets recap: A) Organize and sell Hail= become millionaire or B) WORK for the Hail Organizer and see six figs. Either can be done, all you need to do is apply yourself AKA WORK!!!!!!!!!!! Paintless Dent Removal School This blog brought to you by the hard workin folk at nodents.com Hope you liked this post- I did! Chiffon Tom ps- OVER 180 hail storm DAMAGE reports from TODAY ALONE. You mean to tell me YOU cant find ONE dealer out of ALL those cities / reports per month??? Not without trying, you cant.

WOW! Thats One BIG Dent!

PDR TECHS: Lesson # 108- How to repair BIG HUGE, HONKIN', steamboat sized DENTS. Im talkin, mother-stompin', monster truckin, Texas type dents-bodyshop style monsters..the kind newbie techs see in their sleep. Brought to you by The Paintless Dent Removal experts, superiorautoinstitute.com
So, now that we have established that these Paintless Dent Removal babies are big, lets get to how you can remove them without fear of losing a limb, or life. Step one: You WILL need the following: A) Heat gun B) Tap downs (soft and sharp) C) Tools with rubber tips D) baseball E) Golf ball F) Suction cup G) Large, blunt tip tools OK- depending on the location of your BIGGGGGGG Dent, our focus and strategy will depend on what method and starting point we will go with for our Paintless Dent Repair for big dents. Brought to you by The Paintless Dent Removal experts, superiorautoinstitute.com
OPEN Panel (quarter panel, roof, fender, etc) IF you can get your hand or large object (Baseball, golfball etc etc) on the dent, you want to use THE LARGEST SURFACE AREA first to start to remove the dent. Do NOT, I AM SAYING DOOOO NOT put a PDR tool on the dent first. Why? a small metal tip will turn your paintless dent repair into a paintless dent done wrong repair. Period end of paragraph.. Brought to you by The Paintless Dent Removal experts, Nodents.com
SO, that being said, start by working your dent with a large, blunt object until the dent is either sectioned off into very small sub-dents no larger that a half dollar, or smaller. Once again, YOU MAY BE PRONE TO PUTTING A PDR ROD ONTO THE DENT NOW..Do NOT until the dent is small and READY for a PDR Tool. Why? IF YOU LIKE PORCUPINES, PIMPLE FACED METAL, CHICKEN-POX PAINT, etc, go ahead. IF you are trying to remotely retain the proper texture of the paint finish, start blunt, then eventually go with smaller tips. You can use rubber tips, taped large blunt tips etc, but do not go with a rat or blade style tool if it can be avoided (proper access). Why a heat gun? HEAT, when properly used (see us for a class sonny if you dont know how to use heat) will soften paint and make it less prone to spider and crack. When to use you ask? When you big daddy dent is near or through a bodyline or panel edge or curved bodyline (see Ford Taurus for example). So, use the heat as you know how and soften the paint to eliminate paint spidering when the potential exists. OK- If you do NOT have good access: Try using a suction cup or LARGE glue puller head to shrink and remove the majority of the dent, then come back with something smaller to finish. Do not use a sharp tool simply because a brace or other obstruction precludes you from getting to the big boy. Paintless Dent repair offers you options..use them to get results that pros get. Never settle for less with your paintless dent removal repairs!! Brought to you by The Paintless Dent Removal experts, superiorautoinstitute.com

Ok-NO ONE. Right?? Right. NO ONE has YET to capture ANY branding for Paintless Dent REpair in the retail market;. W H Y..? Because it take $$$$$$$$$$, and BRAINS......and so far, no one with both has done it. This BLOG brought to you by The Superior Auto Institute
Im not going to say I have either, but I darn well sure know I dont have part A of the equation, or I would be swinging the bat at this moment for the PDR Fence and trying to go yard with a PDR Retail homer. The Only company to my knowledge is Dent Wizard, (aka Dead Lizard), but they fell flat on their faces. They tried to do an Ihop style retail look, spent some money, and the stores went poo-poo all across the great USA. Why? A) They had the cash, man, Im tellin ya. B) If you look at the above equation, maybe they were missing part B. I guarantee it WAS part B they missed (and luckily, still miss). A bunch of Cox Comm corporate brass have NO idea about the art and savoifaire of PDR and will never get it, thankfully. So, as of this writing, no one else has the cash to get it going. Oh yeah, Dent Pro tried to do a California semi retail campaign through AAA (auto Club). Did it work? Ill let you figure it out... >:) So here we are boys-no one can figure out what to do to get retail customers. Everyone has tried flyers (doesntwork) Everyone has thought about radio (doesntwork) " " Cable TV (doesntwork) etc etc. So, if retail is huge, but unmarketable, what next? Easy. Go to the customers who actually WANT PDR, on a high probability scale. Are they car wash customers? Heck no. Cheap Bastards (like me) wont even drop a dime to have a dent removed..they want their car washed for $8.95, not 80.95 like a detailer might do. Blues Clue #2: DETAIL customers are almost ALWAYS PDR customers. So, with that, you market to the detailing customer, and voila, you have PDR customers. Yes, it IS that easy. BUT, those customers initially WANT DETAILING. So either coop with a detailer (good one, kid, not some POS (peice of shi*), or do it yourself. IF DW and DP had offered/led with detailing, and then marketed recon services above and over the tops of the customers heads, they would be reaping huge rewards as we speak. Glad they didnt though! :) For any questions or to hire Brian Jump for marketing for YOUR business, call 714-432-8528 1 hour consultations, and Total Marketing plans are available. Have a nice day! PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL 1-2-3

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL in 1-2-3 steps! This Blog brought to you by the friendly folk (but ugly, except the office manager, Chiffon) at The Superior Auto Institute

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL step 1: Decide that you want to make money Decide that YOU want to be the controller of your future, your destiny(sounds like Star Wars I know!) Decide that YOU can determine how much money you make and how much time you devote to work and the rest of your life. Decide that Paintless Dent Removal is a proven way for someone to make great money without a college degree, without having someone on "the inside", or without a family member who wills an opportunity for you. Thats it. Thats the first step to Paintless Dent Removal-choosing it! PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL step 2: Decide how when and where you are going to learn Paintless Dent Removal try HERE for starters!
Decide To DEDICATE your time to this-if you do, your dedication will return a benefit to you that you will not believe. PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL step 3: Once you have your training and tools (I hope you consider us); You need to make a few more decisions, like: A) What customer segment you will serve (private, dealers etc) B) What are your long, medium and short term plans/goals..? PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL RISK / REWARD

Im writing this bit for PDR Techs and those already related to the business (if youre not in the biz yet, feel free to read, but this will more greatly benefit those already in the hunt!) This blog brought to you by The Superior Auto Institute. RISK REWARD Many people refer to this terminology when accessing a business idea or plan. I use this when evaluating an option within the Paintless Dent Removal business, to determine what frankly makes sense when marketing Paintless Dent Removal services. Here are some of the most common Paintless Dent Removal marketing directions, as observed by the majority of PDR companies: 1) Dealers 2) rental agencies 3) Retail customers 4) body shops 5) car auctions. This blog brought to you by The Superior Auto Institute. Now that is about it for about 70-80% of all Paintless Dent Removal services/period. So, if you want to compete with the big, good ol boys then go right ahead and bust your butt all the way up the competition ladder. Or.... Maybe, just MAYBE you have a thought. I know, I think I have the same thought too- (How about go after a service niche that; Will provide ample income, Is relatively easy to identify and market to, and is not commonly targeted by Paintless Dent Removal companies? This blog brought to you by The Superior Auto Institute. Hmm................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Oh.. your waiting for an answer here, huh~!? No, dont doubt me-there is more than ONE niche, and yes Im gonna give up one for you, for free. No need to buy an Ebook, course, etc etc here. This is gratis info, for the sake of you coming here to simply read this info! Ok, here goes: A) Almost all Paintless Dent removal Techs rely on dealers. Avoid the headaches and dont try and get dealers unless you live in an area where dealers are not saturated. B) If you think you have to have a dealer base, or at least a few, word to the wise: try the smaller wholesale or luxury wholesale dealers..they might be a bit tricky on pay, but they are usually available for the plucking. So, lets move aside and talk about just one niche people in the Paintless Dent Removal world neglect: Lease Returns. The lease return market/niche is ripe for the picking. You can find these people through your local dealers, or advertise for them. How do I know? I do abouit 5-15 lease return customers almost weekly, and that is easy money. They DONT want to spend bodyshop money to remove damage, they hate the idea of paying money to the bank when they are losing the car shortly, so we come in, fix the dents and other minro damage for fractions on the dollar, make them happy and they are down the road. Lease returns..you wont regret it. This blog brought to you by The Superior Auto Institute. Brian

Paintless Dent Repair Hail Chaser Training

1-888-992-3464 For THOSE of you who: A) Wouldnt mind making over $1000 daily, B) Dont mind W O R K I N G a little (security guards, and other sedate occupations need not apply) C)Are in reasonable physical and mental health (yeah, sound mind is a good thing too!) ...you might be up for Hail Repair. (This message brought to you by The Superior Auto Institute at www.nodents.com 1-888-992-3464 HAIL REPAIR--- It IS physical work. It IS a real opportunity in THIS day and age to make a six fig income WITHOUT a college, heck, even high school degree! It IS not a gimmick, or a get rich quickie quick scheme. For anyone who lives in the "hail belt" or tornado alley, you guys already know what we speak of here. Hail "Chasers" or Techs go into these area, repair vehicles for the public, dealers, commercial entities, dealers, auctions, and any other niche that can be thought of with hail damage. The result?? M O N E Y. And a whole lot of it. The downside (seems like there always is, huh?) Reality is, hail repair is work. The dents dont just blink away. They have to be pushed out (some people call us "pushers", but NOT in the old sense like drug dealers, ......although many people think alot of Hail techs are drug dealers with all the money they can toss around..driving Dodge Vipers and other exotics, owning huge houses and being home through the winter while the others in the neighborhood shelp off to work for their 9 to 5.. 1-888-992-3464 For those who would consider a career choice such as this, check this link out. We also have daily news for those of you who want more info- Be sure to check out our news section on the bottom of our page at nodents.com 1-888-992-3464 You can also bookmark this blog too!! One thing for sure, Paintless Dent Repair, and even better, Hail repair, are one of the last income bastions in American Business. I challenge anyone to produce an almost zero overhead opportunity where someone can: A) Make up to or beyond 6 figures in their FIRST YEAR!! B) Not build up any or very little overhead / fixed costs C) No college or formal long term or ongoing training needed. D) Oh yeah, and its NOT SOME MLM OR SCAM!! 1-888-992-3464 I love the above, because I just sit and laugh when I think about it..Paintless Dent Repair has afforded me the house I now sit in(and type in), a place for my children to grow up safely in, a place for my wife to cook and help raise my kids in (yes, she doesnt need to work), and, I owe it all to this stupidly simple process of pushing out small dents called Paintless Dent Repair. Pushing freakin sheet metal to remove tiny dimples..and get paid for it. Who would have thunk it?! Brian Jump SUPERIOR AUTO INSTITUTE 1-888-992-3464

HOW DO PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL TECHS EARN OVER 100K ANNUALLY?

OK- So YOU want to make some money. (you clicked here, right?) :) This blog brought to you by The Superior Auto Institute, your choice for One on One Paintless Dent Removal Training and business creation.

How much money do you want to make??? A) Your single, and only need enough to pay rent, take the bus to work, and want a part time job because you dont want to miss Sportscenter. Answer- I dont know if Paintless Dent Repair is for you. Why? Paintless Dent Repair is for those who actually WANT to work... Lets try again... B) Your married, have one child, want your wife to stay at home to help raise your little one proper while you provide..IS Paintless Dent Removal viable? Answer- Yes. Why? Paintless Dent Repair is for those who actually WANT to work...And, the above person darn well better want to work. So lets review: 1) Paintless Dent Removal IS work. 2) There is GOOD money in Paintless Dent Removal 3) You dont actually HAVE to be married or have children to succeed in PDR..you just need to be motivated!. So, with that out of the way, lets discuss how to actually acheive a six fig. Paintless Dent Removal income.. PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL INCOME CALCULATOR $100 a day, 52 week per year =$26k (one retail customer a day or less) Not quite enough to raise a family on, but enough if your in a One bedroom, driving a 1991 Ford Ranger. $200 a day, 52 week per year =$52k ( and yes by the way, these are basically net figures) So, maybe two retail customers per day on average, or one dealer visit per day (very SMALL dealer) This might work for a midwest town, or smaller community where costs of living are minimal. Not great for a family though or one who wants to get ahead in life. Lets step it up a bit: $300 a day, 52 week per year =$78k $300 a day equates to 2-3 retail customers a day, or only ONE average or slightly below average dealer repair visit (maybe 3-5 car repairs). On average this is very conservative by the way. Now $78k will do pretty nicely for most people... BUT, if you have a BIG family or a wife who likes the nicer things, OR YOU like the nicer things, lets go a bit more; $400 a day, 52 week per year =$104,000k Now that will cover most people's living expenses and then some. So, how to do it? A) Chase hail and average $1000 daily for 4-5 months. B) Do 1-2 average dealer repair visits, and maybe 1-2 retails daily. It IS easy to do, provided one doesnt mind WORKING. Want more info on how to secure the above business? Come visit us at The Superior Auto Institute and contact us with YOUR specific needs and goals. We help people daily with the very same concerns and needs. Brian Jump
